May 16th was another opportunity for CFFC to partner with the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation to support our CF community. While the weather was perfect for a walk, the primary motivation for the great turnout was helping the Foundation continue their many programs that benefit the CF community; not the least of which is the ongoing search for a cure.
We accepted the offer to host a table at the Rochester Great Strides event held in Genesee Valley Park. As with last year’s event, our contribution was to give the walkers and volunteers a free visit to the Frios Gourmet Pops ice cream truck. By closing, we helped brighten the day for 225 participants.
Handing out tickets for ice cream gave us the chance to interact with the full range attendees: people living with CF, family, supporters, care givers and volunteers. We refreshed our connection with friends and made new connections. Through the conversations, we were able to discuss the current state of the CFFC programs and promote the upcoming events: Family Day (8/9) and the Living with CF Golf Tournament (9/12).
