The CF Foundation’s Community Partnerships is seeking input from patients and families regarding advanced practice providers for CF patients. Here is the text of the announcement:

The Cystic Fibrosis Foundation has assembled a national taskforce of CF clinicians to address the challenges in recruiting pediatric and adult CF care providers. Specifically, the group has been tasked with formulating a plan to optimize the training and implementation of Advanced Practice Providers (APPs) in CF care. Advanced Practice Providers are non-physician clinical providers with an advanced degree who can provide care independently or in collaboration with a physician.

The first step is to better understand the role that Advanced Practice Providers currently play in CF programs. We are surveying the community on behalf of the CF Foundation to gather information about the current roles of APPs (for example, nurse practitioners and physician assistants) in providing CF clinical care. We would like to hear about the patient and family experience with APPs and how these providers can be valuable in the CF clinical setting.
