The CF Foundation recently provided an update on the following research trial.
Lumacaftor and ivacaftor (VX-809-106) in people ages 12 and older with cystic fibrosis
This is a Phase 3, multi-center trial that will look at the safety of lumacaftor and ivacaftor combination therapy. Researchers will assess the safety of the drugs lumacaftor and ivacaftor by monitoring for reactions to the study drugs. Researchers will also measure participant’s lung function and other outcomes. The trial is for people ages 12 and older with cystic fibrosis, advanced lung disease, and two copies of the F508del-CFTR mutation. The trial will last approximately 11 months. It will require sweat tests, lung function tests and other assessments.
