Financial Assistance

Life with CF strains personal finances. Limited assistance is available from CFFC as described on our Emergency Fund and Andrew W Eve Memorial Scholarship pages. More extensive assistance is available from another local organization: Just Breathe Foundation.

Erin Masling was courageous warrior and the daughter of one of CFFC’s founders. The Erin Marie Masling Canandaigua Academy Award was established to help students of the Canandaigua Academy in honor Erin’s memory. Read more about Erin and the scholarship on the Community Foundation website.

Just Breathe Foundation was formed to serve the CF community in western New York. Their mission statement: “Our mission is to make the lives of those battling Cystic Fibrosis more manageable. We are here to provide medical financial assistance to CF patients and their families in the Rochester area. We strive to improve the quality of life and to inspire others to show their support for the individuals and their families who struggle with this debilitating disease.”

Rather than identifying other specific resources, we have provided a few links to sites with multiple references.

  • Compass is not a listing of aid programs, rather the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation defines Compass as “a service that helps people with CF and their families with navigating insurance options, connecting to legal information and experts, finding available financial resources, and tackling other life issues.”
  • NeedyMeds offers a list of diagnosis-based assistance programs for cystic fibrosis.
  • HHSC, in addition to general assistance and scholarship resources, lists manuafactures’ assistance programs.
  • The Cystic Fibrosis Center at the Robert Wood Johnson Medical School of Rutgers University provides a list of CF support sites including financial aid and scholarships.
  • The Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia has a page dedicated to scholarships for the CF community.
