The CF Foundation recently provided updates on three research trials: Nasal Insufflation in Cystic Fibrosis, Study of Inhaled TOBI for the Treatment of Early Infections, and Tobramycin Inhalation Powder (TIP) Administered Daily Versus Cycled.
Nasal Insufflation in Cystic Fibrosis
People with cystic fibrosis (CF) often lose weight because they have problems with breathing and lung infections. It becomes harder to breathe and gain weight as lung disease gets worse. Children with CF breathe a lot harder during sleep. This could be one reason why they have trouble gaining weight. A new treatment has been developed that delivers warm and humid air. This study will look to see if this treatment will help people with CF breathe easier when they sleep and as a result help people with CF gain weight. This study will include overnight sleep studies.
