2013 was a good year for CFFC. It was good because we were able to continue our Hospital Help Packet program (with a little extra in the envelope). We also introduced our clinic “sunshine bags” with LĂ„RABAR nutritional snacks and, at the peds clinic, parking passes.

We must have been on the “nice” list because we got a couple of holiday presents to close out the year. First, our 2013 participation in the ROC the Day event hosted by United Way of Rochester netted $202 for CFFC. Contributions came from six individual.

Friendly shoppers also chipped in $222 for gift wrapping at the Pittsford Barnes and Noble store on 12/8 and 12/23. CFFC appreciates the help and coordination provided by George and Lindsay at the Pittsford store. We also want to thank the “elves” who gave up their precious time to do all the wrapping: Tracy Brooks, Carol Collins, Donna Scribani, Lauren White, Joanne Schum, Leia Johnson, Mary Platt and Mary’s daughter.

CFFC is looking forward to an even better 2014. The year begins with a little bad news for a very good reason. The annual CFFC 3-on-3 Basketball Tournament (in memory of Peter Lunn) is going to take a vacation in 2014; or should we say “honeymoon.” The tournament co-chairs – Kori Tolbert and Rick Doherty – are focusing their energies on planning and celebrating their wedding! Another bit of good news is that the prior tournaments built a strong financial base so CFFC’s programs will continue unaffected by this break in the action.

Not only will our existing programs continue in 2014, but we are also committed to hosting the first CF education day in five years for the Rochester/Finger Lakes CF community. We’re still in the early stages of planning the program but we have set the date an secured the location: Saturday, May 31st, at the North and South Lodges in Powdermill Park. Stay tuned for further updates as the program evolves.

Feeding off the enthusiasm from our inaugural golf tournament, we are also committed to holding the Second Annual CFFC Living with CF Golf Tournament. Play will be held at the Southern Meadows Golf Club on Saturday, September 13th. We’re planning on just as much fun and working on warmer weather.

Here’s wishing you all a happy and healthy new year!
