Support CFFC – Help Us Help Others

We appreciate your financial support for CFFC’s programs. CFFC resources are used for the benefit of the CF community – patients and their families – served by the Rochester CF Center. These resources are raised in three ways:

  • Direct donations from individuals

  • Community-based sponsorships solicited in conjunction with fund-raising events such as the Living with CF Golf Tournament

  • Corporate sponsorships solicited from businesses associated with CF in conjunction with CF Education Day

Donations

Donations are frequently contributions from family or friends of someone living with CF in our local community. CFFC is occasionally the beneficiary of memorials to acknowledge the passing of someone in our community.

There are four ways to make contributions to CFFC. Sending a check is a tried and true method, We can also accept electronic payments through PayPal or Venmo. The fourth option is participation in a fund-raising event.

Sending a Check

Checks can be made payable to Cystic Fibrosis Family Connection, or simply CFFC. You may use the memo line to indicate a particular reason for the contribution; for example, recognition of an individual.

PayPal

Contributions may be made using PayPal whether you or not you have a PayPal account. Non-members will be asked to provide a credit or debit card for the payment.

Alternatively, you can use the QR code displayed to the left.

Since CFFC is registered with PayPal as a charitable organization, no fees are charged to CFFC for the transactions. Therefore, CFFC will receive the full amount of your contribution.

Venmo QR code

Venmo

Venmo users can also make donations electronically. In your app, you can find CFFC using our tag “@CFFamilyConnectionROC.” The QR code shown to the left can be used as a shortcut to our Venmo account.

Venmo recognizes our registration with PayPal as a charitable organization. As such, CFFC benefits from a reduced fee structure. A fee of 1.9% of the payment amount (plus $.10) is deducted from the contribution transferred to CFFC.

Fund Raising

Fund raising events are not a significant source of income for CFFC – but we will not pass up a suitable opportunity.

The Living with CF Golf Tournament is our only recurring fund raising event; held annually on the weekend after Labor Day. Each event is announced on this site and our Facebook page.

From time to time, members of our community come up with unique events. It can be a simple exercise like the “dress down day” collection at the Pavilion School. The event can be more than fundraising like the Pre-K class at Dansville Schools who assembled clinic baggies in addition to collecting spare change.

Is my donation tax deductible?

CFFC is designated by the Internal Revenue Service as a 501(c)(3) corporation. CFFC is also registered with the New York State Department of Law, Bureau of Charities. Donations may be treated as charitable donation deductions on personal income tax returns; however, application in a particular situation is dependent on other factors (e.g., standard deduction rather than itemized deductions). How is my donation used?

Donations typically go into CFFC’s general fund to finance our programs that benefit CF patients and their families. (See our Programs page to review the various ways we support our CF community.) If a potential donor wants to restrict a donation to a specific purpose, the Board of Directors will consider the feasibility of the request before accepting the donation. Factors in this review include consistency with CFFC’ articles of incorporation, compatibility with other programs and sustainability.

As with any organization, CFFC has some administrative costs. However, since its inception, administration expenses (e.g., post office box rent) have accounted for less than 10% of total costs.
