The Cystic Fibrosis Foundation – Western New York Chapter held its Rochester annual meeting on February 24, 2026. At that meeting, the 2025 Community Partner Award was presented to Cystic Fibrosis Family Connection. CFFC President Karly Schuhart and Secretary/Treasurer Greg Smith were on hand to accept the award on behalf of our board of directors and volunteers.
CFFC was established in 1993 to provide support to the Rochester/Finger Lakes CF community in ways that were not practicable for the Foundation – not as a competitor, but as an ally. In a photography metaphor, the Foundation provides a wide-angle view while CFFC deals in close-ups.
The collaboration between our organizations has increased in the last few years. We are guests at events sponsored by each other. For example, the Foundation provides an information table at CFFC’s Family Day, while CFFC sponsors the ice cream truck at the Foundation’s Great Strides event in Rochester. Through this partnership, we are able to provide a wider support network for people living with CF and their families.
We look forward to being partners in 2026 and beyond.
