03/20/2026MIT scientists discover gut protein that traps and kills dangerous bacteria – This research identified a protein in the gut biome that capture and neutralize pathogens such as Staphylococcus aureus. Since the protein also strengthens the mucus layer, more research seems necessary to determine the effects for people with CF.
