03/02/2025 – Losing My Son to His Late Diagnosis – As we know, not all CF stories are happy ones. This particular story has a few sad themes. We appreciate the effort it took for this mom to share the story.
03/03/2025 – California wildfires reminded me that being prepared is crucial – We don’t expect to experience wild fires in western New York, but other emergencies could arise (such as a blizzard). An emergency “go bag” could also be part of vacation preparations.
03/04/2025 – “I’ve never allowed my CF to stop me from being adventurous and living a full life”: Kieran’s story – This young man hasn’t allowed his CF to hold him back in his activities or his efforts to advocate for CF.
03/05/2025 – Dr. Jonathan Dennis new unexplored approach to treatment of dangerous bacteria – Burkholderia cepacia is one of the most dangerous, resistant bacteria that can infect people living with CF. This researcher explains the risks and the approach he is pursuing to develop more effective treatments.
03/06/2025 – Becoming A Pharmacist With CF – The headline might lead you to believe this is a career story. It is, but much more. It starts with crossing an ocean to get needed medical care.
03/07/2025 – March is Colorectal Cancer Awareness Month – This message comes from the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation: “Adults with CF have a risk of colorectal cancer that is 5–10 times higher than the general population — and even higher after a lung or other solid organ transplant. Our colorectal cancer animations explain what to know about this cancer, how early screening can help reduce risk, why it’s important to prepare for a colonoscopy properly, and what steps to take for a successful exam.” The link takes you to two videos; one on screening, one on organ intervention.
