05/31/2026 – Today marks the end of the formal recognition of May as Cystic Fibrosis Awareness Month but CF is more than one month out of the year. Awareness starts with the diagnosis; however, everyone connected to the CF community knows that awareness doesn’t have an end point. The concept is reflected in the mottos of CF organizations around the world: US – Until it’s done; Canada – Life unlimited; England – Towards a brighter future; Australia – Lives unaffected by CF.
06/01/2026 – Five ways the CF BioResource project could help people with CF – This project is only open to people in the UK but it demonstrates an interesting approach to learn why CF is expressed differently in individuals even when they have the same CFTR mutations. Although the article is more than a year old, Cystic Fibrosis Trust has recently announced that additional funding has extended the project.
06/02/2026 – Holiday Tips for Happy Lungs: Fun Lung Clearance Ideas for Kids with Cystic Fibrosis – This list of fun activities to promote lung health comes from the South Africa Cystic Fibrosis Association where the Christmas holiday occurs in their summer. We’re sharing it now as we enter our summer season.

06/04/2026 – CF immune cell defects may help dangerous bacteria survive – We are familiar with the fact that CF lungs provide an environment susceptible to infection. This research identifies an additional risk because immune cells in people living with CF may be less effective. Like many new discoveries, the researchers note that further study is needed to understand, and correct, this condition.

06/06/2026 – AI-designed universal coronavirus vaccine passes first human trial – Flu infections can be problematic for people living with CF. The other good news in this article is the use of AI to perfect the vaccine; a process which, someday, could be applied to other medications in CF treatment protocols.
