Living with CF Golf Tournament

A cool and rainy start seems to be the standard for the CFFC golf tournament. But the challenging weather conditions did not deter the hearty golfers who came to play in the Living with CF Golf Tournament on September 13, 2014 at the Southern Meadows Golf Club

Eleven courageous souls teed off at 9:00. Perhaps the cool conditions spurred us on to play faster, so we were all back at the club house for lunch by 11:00. We were greeted by a scrumptious lunch featuring rib eye steaks, corn on the cob, baked beans and salads.

Once everyone was fed (and warmed up), it was time to announce the winners. The first prizes went to Walt McCanna for his tee shot closest to the pin on the fourth hole, and Sue Smith for the longest drive (in the fairway) on the sixth hole. The team winners were:

  1. Tom Skavienski, Laura Skavienski, Jon Pecor and Kevin Wetmore with a score of 28 (4 under par)
  2. Dennis Nystrom, Sharon Nystrom, Walt McCanna and Tom Wickerham
  3. Allan Mason, Sue Smith and Greg Smith

Of course, the real winners were the members of our CF community. The help of our players and sponsors, we raised over $800 to continuing funding for our Hospital Help Packet program.

The playing conditions were perfect (even if damp) thanks to the crew at Southern Meadows: Mike Clawson (club pro and manager), Rick Clawson (groundsman and chef for the day) and Dan Park (head groundskeeper).

Our sponsors were a key part in the financial success of the tournament.
