May 23rd was quite the night. CFFC’s Education Night was the perfect mix of fun, socializing and learning. You can also find a slide show of pictures from the event on our Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/CFFamilyConnection/videos/1433714200005361/
As our guests arrived at Brass Bar & Lounge, they were welcomed by our smiling greeters. The venue was relaxed and conducive to mingling with attendees from all segments of our CF community: those dealing with CF in their daily lives, the caregivers from the clinics and hospitals, and our sponsors from CF-related suppliers. Our hosts Rebecca and Taylor made sure we were always supplied with the great food prepared by Chef’s Catering and Keanan served the complementary drinks with a smile.
The evening program kicked off with updates from the CF centers. Dr. Karen Voter, reported on the staffing changes at the pediatric clinic as well as the addition of a coordinator to promote participation in clinical trials. Drs. Steven Scofield and Tiffany Pulcino reviewed the Complex Care Center (home of the adult clinic) after one year of operation. After a brief intermission (and refueling), we regrouped for the discussion sessions. The conversations were clearly engaging as we had to force them to wrap up when our time with Brass was up.
The biggest factor in the success of the night was the community and their willingness to share stories. Of course, we owe a big thank you to our sponsors. First and foremost, we are grateful that Louie Maier donated the use of Brass Bar & Lounge and provided complementary beer, wine and soft drinks. We also appreciated the time and financial support provided by the following corporate sponsors:
Chiesi
Novartis
Vertex
Gilead
Allergan
Cystic Fibrosis Services/Walgreens
Respirtech
Vitaflow
We also were pleased that representatives from the Rochester Chapter of Cystic Fibrosis Foundation and the Just Breathe Foundation set up informational stations at out event.
We look forward to offering another successful event next year.
