The Current Hospital Help Program

In May, CFFC revised our Hospital Help Program to change the way this benefit is provided to those who are dealing with hospitalization. We are now providing a cash benefit which is made via PayPal, Venmo, e-gift card or by another method as requested by the recipient. This approach replaces the prepaid parking passes and small cash stipend. A full description of the current program can be found at https://cffamilyconnection.org/programs/hospital-help-program/.

Physical Hospital Help Packets are available at both Golisano Children’s Hospital and Highland Hospital. The packets include a description of the program and a sheet containing QR codes that link to each application form. At Golisano, the packets are handled by the nurses on the CF unit. The respiratory therapists handle the packets at Highland. If you do not receive a packet after admission, please contact the appropriate hospital staff at your hospital or CFFC at [email protected].

As explained on our website, the Hospital Help grants are not limited to Golisano and Highland hospitals, and are not limited to CF-related admissions. There are just two simple eligibility requirements. One, the beneficiary is a person living with CF who is followed by the Rochester CF Center. Two, the beneficiary has been (or will be) admitted to a hospital for at least one night. For example, an eligible person could be admitted to Rochester General Hospital for an emergency appendectomy. Or an eligible person might spend a night at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center for pre-transplant testing. Since not all people in the local CF community are known to CFFC, we will ask for your permission to contact the Rochester CF Center to confirm eligibility.
