Marcy Odell, social worker at the pediatric CF Center shared the following announcement:

HEAP opens on Monday, November 13, 2017.  New York State Office of Temporary and Disability Assistance and Local Social Service Districts will not release or accept HEAP applications until Monday, November 13, 2017.  The current 2017-2018 HEAP applications have a “REV 5/17” date on the top left corner of the application form.  The completed application form may be submitted on Monday, November 13 to 111 Westfall Road, Rochester, NY 14620 or faxed to (585)753-6116.

The Home Energy Assistance Program (HEAP) is a financial assistance program in New York State that can be applied to cover the cost of heating homes. The program has several components: regular benefits, emergency benefits, equipment repair/replacement and “clean and tune” (energy efficiency). You can find descriptions of these benefits (including elegibity requirements) at: https://otda.ny.gov/programs/heap/#overview.

HEAP is administered through county Social Services Departments. You can find contact information for your county at: https://otda.ny.gov/programs/heap/contacts/. The lists also include contacts for alternate certifiers and after hours emergencies. Any questions you may have about HEAP and your eligibility should be addressed to the contact shown for your local Social Service Department.
